Haavind strengthens the Aquaculture team with Torbjørn Gjelsvik
Torbjørn Gjelsvik is a Partner and leads Haavind’s venture into the aquaculture industry from Bergen.
Torbjørn has more than 25 years of national and international experience as an adviser and lawyer for listed and family-owned fish farming companies, suppliers and organisations within the aquaculture industry, with the main emphasis on assistance in transactions, restructuring, applications for permits etc., as well as ongoing advice to public authorities.
Torbjørn will mainly work from Bergen. In recent years, he has run his own business, mainly within the aquaculture industry, focusing on developing new concepts and companies. Today he is, among other things, Chairman and Co-owner of Salmona AS and Salmon Offshore Farming AS (established to apply for offshore licences), as well as Chairman of the Smir Group, which supplies equipment to the aquaculture industry.
– Torbjørn substantially reinforces our industry investment in fisheries and aquaculture, especially in gaining a stronger position in Western Norway and becoming even better positioned for transactions and corporate work within the sector. We look forward to welcoming him to the Haavind team, says Managing Partner Preben Brecke.
Earlier in his career, Torbjørn was a Deputy Judge in Fredrikstad, before he spent four years in group legal at Sparebanken NOR. He then helped establish Kluge’s Bergen office and was a partner in Kluge for seven years before becoming a partner in Schjødt, where he worked for six years.
