Gisle Grønlie is Senior Counsel in Haavind’s department for Aquaculture, Offshore and Industry.

Gisle has extensive experience from having been a legal manager in various parts of multinational oil service companies and in one of Norway’s most prominent companies for the development of renewable energy.

Gisle has operational and strategic management experience from regional and global management groups and has sat on a number of internal boards. He has also been chairman of a listed renewable company.

As legal director, Gisle has experience from a number of different areas within the business of both Technip Norge and FMC Kongsberg and then TechnipFMC after the companies merged. The business – and thus areas Gisle has had legal management for – covers turnkey contracting for subsea underwater systems, SURF (subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines) and associated offshore marine installation services using its own fleet and charter parties. He has extensive experience from contract negotiations and concluding agreements with most oil companies in a number of jurisdictions, as well as with ongoing assistance to complex offshore projects in the implementation and closing phase. He has broad experience in contract management and in leading strategic and commercial negotiations with customers and subcontractors. Throughout his years in oil services, Gisle has worked internationally and with various complex contracts and cooperation constellations, alliance cooperation and joint ventures. He has also been responsible for legal assistance to various group functions and has solid experience with restructuring, company law issues, employment law and internal investigations as part of an overall compliance responsibility.

Gisle, through his previous role as deputy chairman of the Legal Forum in Norwegian Industry, has also been involved and engaged in various initiatives and projects to develop and improve the framework conditions for the Norwegian offshore construction and oil services industry.

In recent years, Gisle has worked with renewables as legal manager for New Energy Ventures in TechnipFMC and then as legal manager, board secretary and responsible for acquisitions and mergers in Magnora ASA. In Magnora, he has, among other things, been responsible for negotiating shareholder agreements and investment agreements within solar power, onshore and offshore wind. He worked with the creation of Magnora Offshore Wind AS, application processes for the Scotwind award and then ongoing legal support to project development and overall strategic collaborations and investments.

In Haavind, Gisle will continue to assist the offshore industry and the renewable industry, as well as adjacent areas within the new green industries. He will, among other things, assist customers with strategic sourcing, procurements and deliveries, various collaboration constellations and alliances, project implementation, contract administration and dispute resolution, as well as in various investment projects and transactions.
