ESA approves Norwegian model for floating offshore wind in Utsira Nord
ESA has today approved the support model for state aid for floating offshore wind in Utsira Nord under the Guidelines on State aid for climate, environmental protection and energy (CEEAG), concluding that it is in line with EEA rules on State aid.

The Approval from ESA has been a prerequisite before the announcement can be made, and the Ministry is now in the process of preparing the announcement and necessary documents. According to today’s press release from the Ministry the announcement will be made as soon as possible.
The aid will be granted in the form of a direct grant. Details of the model will be announced in the call for tenders.
ESA recognizes that floating offshore wind technology serves an important role in increasing the global production of renewable energy and reducing global emissions. Furthermore, ESA acknowledges Norway’s advantageous position to produce energy from offshore wind, predominantly through floating technology.
The industry stakeholders are optimistic about this development and eagerly await the announcement of the tender. This approval marks a significant step forward in advancing Norway’s offshore wind capabilities.
